CANONSBURG, PA- The Wiff is Life League’s newly appointed Director of Scheduling and Statistics, Nate Morris, has set the dates for the four tournaments run by the WILL in 2020. The season will kick off on Sunday, May 31. Tournaments two and three will take place on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 28, respectively. Then, the season will conclude on Sunday, July 19.
Registration for the 2020 season will open today (March 17) at 8 pm and will remain open for exactly two months, closing May 17 at 8 pm. The link for registration will be posted on the league's website and all of the social media channels. Registration for individual tournaments will close 1 week prior to the date of the tournament.
As a reminder, all players will sign up individually for the 2020 season and teams will be drafted prior to each tournament. Players will have the option of signing up for all four tournaments or each one individually. Those who register for all four, there will be a one time cost of $40 per player. Meanwhile, players who do not sign up for all four tournaments will pay $15 per tournament they enter. Questions about registration can be directed to the league’s Director of Recruitment, Steven Keelon.
The League’s Board has also approved the 2020 rule book. The lone major game play change comes on the pitchers side, as the league will now allow the pitcher to choose throwing fast or medium pitch. Pitching distances and the size of bats the batter uses will correspond with that decision. Read the full rule book here.
The venues for the tournaments are not yet determined and the league is currently working on locking down them. They will all take place in or near the Canonsburg area.
Tournament formats are to be determined, nonetheless all teams will be guaranteed at least three games each tournament. Once registration closes for the tournaments the best format for that amount of participants will be put into action by Morris.
