The Wiff is Life League Waves are beginning their 2020 season this Saturday at the Mid Atlantic Wiffle Opening Day Tournament. The season is beginning later than expected due to events being cancelled with the coronavirus pandemic happening, but better late than never.
The tournament is set for an 8 am start in York, Pennsylvania. It will be the largest tournament in Mid Atlantic’s history with 14 teams. Teams compete in three pool play games and then get put into a single elimination bracket, teams with a 2-1 or 3-0 record automatically get into the eight team minimum field.
WILL opens the day with a 9 am matchup with the Meats, then takes on the York Yaks at 11 am, and finishes off pool play at 2 pm against the Stompers. Bracket play will follow if the Waves are able to capture at least two wins.
The roster for WILL’s first trip of the year will consist of Austin Berger, Steve Keelon, Nate Morris, Jake Davey, and Rob Licht. Licht will make his MAW debut, Morris and Berger will be in their second MAW tournament, then Davey and Keelon are making their third appearance.
