Slugs Set For Showdown

Updated: Dec 20, 2020

Nate Morris captains the Slugs for the Summer Showdown. He selected Austin Berger and followed that with Tim Marra.

Nate Morris has done damage both offensively and defensively at WILL events this summer. He tossed a one hitter in extra innings in the first game of the year, then has seen some decline from the rubber, as he was pulled before one full inning of work in his past two starts. Offensively, he comes into the Showdown with a .289 average, two doubles, and two home runs on the year.

Austin Berger will be impacted by the Mid Atlantic Wiffle tournament and will likely not have any arm left to toss fast pitch at the Sunday event. Therefore, his offensive output will need to be relied on. Over the past two tournaments he has compiled five home runs and a .229 average. On Opening Day, he ripped 9 hits in his 28 at bats (.321).

Tim Marra knocked a few more hits then even he thought he would have predicted in the Battle in the Burg. He led his team, the Flamingos, with a .211 average. This Sunday he will see more medium pitch opponents and will likely see that average tick up. Also, some pitching time could be on Marra’s horizon, as he was the medium pitch Cy Wiffs in 2012.
