Sarnowski Tabbed Opening Day Player Of The Day

Updated: Dec 20, 2020

The league leaders post on Monday said it all. Chris Sarnowski dominated the Opening Day Tournament on Sunday and has been named the Player of the Day. He went 6-0 from the rubber and led a multitude of statistical categories, both offensively and pitching.

All 38 of the innings that the Assassins were on defense, Sarnowski pitched them, and he did so very well. He posted a league best 0.36 ERA, 0.32 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts. He did not give up more than two hits in any of his six games on the rubber. In two pool play games, he tossed a no-hitter, one of the eight inning variety with 12 strikeouts and in a three inning mercy rule win with five strikeouts.

From the offensive side, he did not let up. Over 49 at bats he collected 25 hits, which comes out to a .510 average. He ended the day with a league high 12 long balls, with the 12th being a walk off in the championship game. Sarnowski’s day did not just end strong, but also started off strong. In the first game of the day he was all over one of the top pitchers in the league, Gino Joseph, as he blasted 5 home runs in 10 at bats in the game. He went deep in five of the six games played, and also led the league in OPS at 1.906.
