Plungers Will Debut Three New Players At Showdown

Updated: Dec 20, 2020

Jake Davey will captain a team for the second time this year, the lone player to do so. He will bring along Reed Bursic and James Patterson, who will make their WILL debuts on Sunday. Matt Morgan rounds out the roster.

Davey is coming off a championship and player of the day honor from last tournament. He was a member of the Stompers, where he hit four home runs, including the championshop winning one. He also threw a complete game in the finals, and will see some action back on the rubber this Sunday. On the year, Davey is hitting .349 and has 12 home runs.

Reed Bursic and James Patterson are playing competitive Wiffle Ball for the first time. They each are graduates of Fox Chapel high school and played on the school’s baseball team. Bursic is a current player for the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, where he pitches.

Matt Morgan will make his debut in 2020 after not being able to come to the Opening Day event. He spent 2019 alongside Davey on the Plumbers, where he hit .259 with four home runs. He has not thrown an inning in the WILL, however, he will be a main part of the Plungers defense. Morgan made a diving catch to save the game against the Roman Noodles in a regular season matchup last season. With the ability to drive the ball, teams will need to be wary of him every time he steps in the box.
