Cole Lanni made his first appearance in Wiff is Life League action this past Sunday at the Summer Showdown. He made his mark in no time, as he led the tournament in average to earn player of the day honors.
His tournament leading .519 average helped guide the Big Baller Shot Callers to a tournament victory. Lanni blasted four home runs and legged out two doubles on Sunday. In his three pool play games, he collected 13 of his 14 hits, for a .722 pool play average, including an 8-for-10 game with three homers against the Noodles. In the pool play finale, he hit a walk off single to secure the top seed in the bracket for BBSC.
Lanni also did work from the rubber to help his cause for player of the day. He tossed the final three games for BBSC, which included both bracket games. In the championship he allowed two hits and no runs, while striking out four. In total on the day, Lanni struck out 10 over 17 innings of work, going 3-0, with a 1.76 ERA and 0.82 WHIP, all from the medium pitch rubber.
