Jake Davey led all players at the Battle in the Burg with four home runs, and has earned himself player of the day honors. The clutchness of Davey was the deciding factor.
In the semifinals versus the Mothmen he hit the go head home run in the bottom of the third inning, which ended up winning the game for the Stompers (2-1) and advancing them to the championship. Davey’s hit was the lone one in the game for the Stompers.
In the championship, he did it on both sides of the field. Davey took the medium pitch rubber in the championship and threw a complete game shutout, against the top offensive team in the tournament. He also hit the winning home run in the top of the fifth off a Chris Sarnowski slider, winning the game 1-0.
Each game he and his team faced a top fastpitch arm. Sarnowski threw against them in the first game and the championship, Clark tossed the second pool play game and the semifinals, and Berger threw the pool play finale.
Davey finished the day with a .217 average and at least one home run off each of the pitchers he faced.
