Behind Sarnowski, Fingerballzzz Enter Battle In The Burg As Favorites

Updated: Dec 20, 2020

The champions from Opening Day will be playing together once again. This time, Chris Sarnowski will lead the team as captain. His first draft pick was Opening Day teammate, Steven Keelon, and his second was Mike Sullivan, who played for the Vandals last tournament.

Sarnowski had the ball for every inning of the day for the Assassins at the Opening Day Tournament. He won every game. Over the 28 innings, he allowed just two runs (0.36 ERA) and six hits in six games. The league posts six statistical category leaders for both pitching and hitting. He was the leader in all six of the pitching and four of the hitting boards. On Opening Day he tossed two no-hitters, one in three innings versus the Plumbers and one in eight innings versus the Vandals. To cap off one of the most impressive single days ever, he hit a walk off home run to win the championship. He will look to repeat this type of performance at the Battle In The Burg on Saturday.

Keelon is a crafty pitcher, but will likely not be needed at this tournament. He will be relied upon to have his bat working. At the Opening Day Tournament, he had that going for him. Keelon posted a .381 average (4th in the league) and 10 home runs (3rd in the league). With numbers like that, behind Sarnowski on the rubber, success will be very obtainable for the squad.

Mike Sullivan will join the two members of the squad that eliminated his team from the Opening Day Tournament. The left handed bat blasted one home run on the day with a .261 average. He also drew the most walks on his team (7) to boost his on base percentage to .467. Sullivan also saw time from the medium pitch rubber, where he threw 12 innings and went 1-1 while striking out 10.

The recipe for another title run is there, as they come into the Battle In The Burg as the favorites.
