Splunkers captain, Austin Abel spearheaded a 5-0 week for the team in Week 3 of the 2022 season to be named the Primanti Bros. Player of the Week.
Abel was impressive from both the batters box and pitchers rubber. From the box, he hit .777 (28-36) with six home runs and three doubles, while on the rubber he was 4-0 in all four of his starts and totaled seven strikeouts over 15 innings of work.
The right hander was tossed three complete games, in which he struck out two each time, including a five inning shutout versus the Roman Noodles. Pitching wins came against the Ball Busters, Lumberkings, Noodles, and Banana Slugs. He allowed six runs in total for a 2.00 ERA on the day.
Abel was the toughest out in the league during Week 3. He went a perfect 8-for-8 in the Splunker win over the Lumberkings, including three home runs. His strong Week 3 catapulted him into second place on the leaderboard for average, sitting now at .636. On the power side of things, Abel is tied for fifth with nine dingers heading into the final week of the regular season.
