Updated: Dec 20, 2020

ROCHESTER, NY- The Ontario County Wiffle Association has announced their end of the year awards for the 2019 season. Rob Licht, of the WILL Waves, was selected as one of three Silver Slugger’s in the league.

Licht led the league in slugging percentage at 1.458, which was 0.203 higher than any other player. He blasted 15 home runs in six games to finish fourth in the league and the best home runs to games played ratio. The left hander drove in 40 runs in the Opening Day Tournament and hit for a .576 average, both good for fourth in the league.

The other two Silver Sluggers in the OCWA were Ryan Bush and Chris Roeder. Highlights for Bush included a league best 26 home runs and 72 RBI. Roeder was second in home runs, RBI, and slugging percentage at 19, 53, and 1.255 respectively. Bush played in every tournament (19 games) and Roeder played in two of the three (11 games).

Licht and teammate Jake Davey were both nominated for Rookie of the Year in the league as well, the award ultimately was won by Brett Delano. Davey was also nominated for the Silver Slugger award, however came up short.

WILL went 6-0 to win the Opening Day Tournament on May 11. Then was all set to travel up for the regular season finale, Under the Lights Tournament, before unpleasant weather hit the western New York area causing officials to cancel the tournament. Scheduling conflicts barred the team from the playoffs in September. The Waves expect to return to Bush Grapes Park again next year at least one time.
