ST. LOUIS, MO- The National Wiffle League Association has released its All-NWLA teams for the 2019 season. The WILL had four players chosen to national teams. Rob Licht led the way, as he was selected first team All-NWLA Hitting and was named a finalist for East Region Hitter of the Year.
Greyden Piechnick was selected to the second team hitting and Jordan Castelli was honored on third team. Zach Rohaley found himself on the pitching list with a second team designation, the sole pitcher from the WILL appointed.
Rob Licht garnered first team honors for the first time in his career. In the abbreviated 2019 WILL season he still got a hefty amount of at bats in. In 83 at bats, Licht bopped 29 home runs to lead the league. His average and doubles led the league as well at .663 and 5 respectively. This was the back-to-back most valuable player’s second time being named to an All-NWLA team, last year he was on second team hitting.
Greyden Piechnick collected his first All-NWLA recognition this year on second team hitting. Piechnick hit .535 on the season and was second in home runs at 21, him and Licht were the lone to get into the twenties in 2019.
Jordan Castelli found himself on an All-NWLA team for the third straight season. Castelli was the first WILL member ever to make a first team when he was on the first team hitting in 2017. He made it back-to-back first team appearances last year, however this year he was placed on third team hitting. The three time Silver Slugger in the league batted his way to a .547 average and 18 bombs in ten games played this year.
Zach Rohaley rounded out the All-NWLA selections for the WILL by achieving a second team pitching designation. Rohaley tossed 47 innings and struck out 15 opponents to lead all pitchers in both categories. The right hander posted just a 4.26 ERA and 1.36 WHIP in a highly offensive, medium pitch league. He is the first player to be chosen on both an All-NWLA hitting and pitching team, after this year and last years second team hitting feat.
