The NWLA Tournament weekend kicked off last night with welcome festivities. All the teams arrived and had scheduled practice time, then at 7 pm the Home Run Derby took place and at 8 pm the All Star Game.
Home Run Derby: None of the WILL's 4 representatives made it out of the qualifying round. Rob Licht hit the most in his one minute of the Waves, when he knocked 5 out. Tim McElrath, of MAW, won the Derby.
All Star Game: Team WILL was inches away from tying the game on a Nate Morris fly ball to center field with a runner on 3rd base in the last inning. However, the catch was made and Team GBL outlasted Team WILL in a back and forth matchup, 7-5. Morris threw one inning of scoreless wiff. Davey was honored prior to the game for his Manager of the Year award last year.
WILL begins tournament play tomorrow with a 10:30 am matchup with Brew City Wiffle. Follow all weekend long on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook (@wiffislife). Live stats and video for all games can be found on the WILL’s Twitter page.
