Booze on First pickup, Ian Hess was honored by Captains Corner for Player of the Day of the Opening Day Tournament. Hess was an offensive juggernaut for Booze, as hit a league best 10 home runs over 4 games Booze played. His .565 average was best on his team, which won the Opening Day Tournament, and 4th in the league.
Hess started off his award winning day with a 3 for 4, 2 home run performance versus the Roman Noodles. Then to get his team into the winners bracket final Hess went 5 for 7 with 5 homers in the win over the Pittsburgh Plumbers.
Hess really earned his award in the winners bracket final and championship. Ian had 3 of his teams 4 hits in the winners bracket final versus Steven Keelon and the 100 Thieves. A solo home run by Hess and a go ahead RBI single in the 7th inning pushed Booze on First into the tournament finals.
In the championship, Hess belted a solo home run in the first and a three run homer in the second as Booze rolled to a 5-1 victory. He produced all but 1 of his teams runs over the winners bracket final and championship.
