Roman Noodles Season Preview Served By Lovie’s Frosty Twist
The Roman Noodles, formerly the Ramen Noodles, return for their 3rd year in the league in 2019. They look to rebound off of a 7-15 season and miss of the playoffs in 2018. In their inaugural year, they took down Minority Power in the Opening Round of the playoffs and fell to the Beavers in the next round.
Year 3 of the Noodles gets underway at 4:30 pm on Sunday (June 2) against the three time champions, Booze on First, at WILL’s Season 6 Opening Day.
Roster: Matt Cottrill brings back a similar squad to the past for the Noodles. Zach Roman is back and must have done something right this offseason to get the team named after him. Nick Popielarczyk the other original Noodle joins Tyler Shoenfelder, who has been off and on the roster in years past. Kolton Black, a rookie, rounds out the roster.
Fielding: A revolving door is expected across the outfield, like many other spots for the Noodles. Popielarczyk is the guy who should eat up the most innings playing defense.
Pitching: Zach Roman and Matt Cottrill split time on the rubber last season and will likely be the plan for this year. Roman tossed 7 complete games, going 30.2 innings and had a 6.68 ERA. Cottrill threw 24.1 innings striking out 4 and posted an 11.92 ERA.
Hitting: The Noodles have solid contact skills when at the plate, but lack a power guy. Kolton Black will look to fill that role. The team hit 15 home runs last year and combined for a .491 average. Matt Cottrill led the team with a .548 AVG and 5 long balls.
