Updated: Dec 20, 2020

Pittsburgh Plumbers Season Preview Served By Lovie’s Frosty Twist

The Pittsburgh Plumbers are a newly formed team in the WILL for the 2019 season. An Opening Day Tournament bye makes the Plumbers first opponent unknown. They will play the winner of the Roman Noodles and Booze on First matchup at 5:10 pm on Sunday (June 2).

Roster: Commissioner Jacob Davey departed Booze on First, where he played for the past 3 years winning 3 championships. Long time league member Dylan Coyle joined the team, Coyle and Davey were together in 2014 and won the league as the Brewers. Josh Clopp, former Barton Bomber, and Matt Morgan, who was a Crab in 2016, round out the roster.

Fielding: Whoever wants to play the field will play the field for the Plumbing Crew.

Pitching: Davey is likely the go to arm this year, as he was the ace on Booze on First the previous two seasons. He went 82 innings, collected a 17-1 record and posted a 4.15 ERA en route to a championship last year. Clopp should see time on the rubber this year as well. Last year on the Bombers, he threw 60 plus innings, struck out 10 batters and recorded a 2.37 ERA.

Hitting: The team is full of quality hitting. Clopp hit for a .531 average and knocked 11 homers. Davey was a .576 hitter last season and laced 20 balls over the wall, good for top 5 in the league. Coyle hit a .561 average and hit 11 home runs with the Maestros last season. Matt Morgan played in 2017 and had a .508 average and belted 9 homers.
