Jordan Castelli capped off his plethora of awards this year with being named the 2018 NWLA East Region Hitter of the Year. Also taking home the NWLA Tournament MVP, the WILL Silver Slugger, and First Team All-NWLA hitting as honors in the past calendar year. This is Jordan and the league’s first regional award.
Taking a dive into Castelli’s statistics, show his worthiness of the award. In the WILL, a medium pitch league, he slaughtered 53 home runs which was 14 more than the second best in the league. Adding to the homers is a .577 average (75-130) and a league leading 2.492 OPS. Adding to those spectacular statistics, Castelli was arguably the best hitter on the WILL Waves in Morenci, Michigan for the 2018 NWLA Tournament. He hit for a .359 average and 3 home runs, playing every game over the weekend. In the fast pitch environment he also drove in a team best 14 runs, and reached base 56.9% of the time, which was also a team best.
The NWLA is a member organization of 43 Wiffle Ball leagues across the country. They honored a pitcher, hitter, fielder, and overall player in each of their three regions. After the east, west, and central awards they honored the same at the national level. For the full list of award winners, head over to the NWLA’s website, nationalwiffleball.wixsite.com/nwla.
