Waves Roster Set for NWLA Tournament

Updated: Dec 20, 2020

The Wiff is Life League Waves are set to compete in the NWLA National Tournament this Friday through Sunday (July 13-15) in Morenci, Michigan. The WILL is going into its second year competing in the event. Last year, the Waves qualified through the Wilkes-Barre, Pa region by going 3-1 and earning a second place finish. At nationals, a handful of close losses and silent bats placed them at 13th. The 13th spot was good enough, in fact just barely good enough, to get the WILL back in Morenci for try number two. The Waves have set forth their roster for the 2018 edition of the NWLA National Tournament, it can be seen below with brief info on each player. The NWLA Tournament is hosted by the National Wiffle League Association, which the WILL is a proud member of, and is a weekend tournament between NWLA league’s all star teams to crown a national champion. The style of play is fast pitch, yellow bat, base running. More information on the tournament can be seen at NWLATournament.com.

Roster: #1 Jacob Davey (P/F/H) Davey is a reliable lefty bat returning to the lineup. He also will look to see some innings from the rubber, as well as innings in the outfield. #3 Mike Graziani (H/F) Graziani has stepped away from the rubber, but looks to be a big contributor with the bat in 2018. He could also see some spot innings in the field. He is one of the returning Wave members from last year. #14 Steven Keelon (P) Keelon has really improved over the offseason and earned his spot on the roster, after being media guy last year. He will be a key guy in the Waves rotation, he showed good promise at a recent Mid Atlantic Wiffle tournament. #22 Jordan Castelli (P/F/H) Castelli has a huge amount of potential, he is a returner to the roster from 2017. He is WILL’s top arm, and pitched a complete game 1 hitter versus the 3 time champions last year. Control is his only fault, but when he’s on … look out. Jordan will also play the field when not pitching and will look to bounce back offensively from a tough 2017 tournament. #34 Tim Marra (P/H/F) Marra joins the Waves for his first out of town trip ever. He looks to be a reliable pool play arm. You will also see Tim get some at bats and potentially a spot inning or two in the field. #46 Austin Berger (P/F) Berger also is on the Waves for the first time. He was a late addition to the roster, but shows great ability from the 47 foot 6 inch mark. He could see a spot inning in the field as well. #66 Nate Morris (P/H) Morris is an emergency sub and is taking the place of Neely. He could see spot innings on rubber and spot at bats. #99 Rob Licht (H/F) Licht returns to the Waves after being the top bat in the lineup in 2017. He hit 2 homers in last years 5 games, and looks to continue his success at the plate this tournament. Rob also serves as a reliable outfielder for the WILL team. That’s the roster for the 2018 NWLA National Tournament. Let’s Go Waves!
