The WILL is Set for 2018 with 14 Teams to Compete

The Wiff is Life League’s registration period has come and gone for the 2018 season. This year the WILL is featuring 14 teams in this 5th season of the league. Headlining 2018 is the defending back to back champions of the league who are back for their 3rd year, as Booze on First looks to continue its roll. The team added slugger Matt Mish over the off season and is hoping for a return of Jared Beach, who missed 2017 with an injury. The longest standing team in the league, the Beavers are back for year 4 under captain Adam Carosone. The Beavers saw some changes to their roster from last year, with the addition of CY Young Nominee, Steven Keelon, and the release of their best statistical pitcher from 2017, Cal Wilson. Speaking of Wilson, he captains a promising new team, Team Barstool, with a roster of majority rookies. Tom James is “out of retirement” for 2018 playing with Team Barstool. Other new teams in the league include, Balls Deep, Barton’s Bombers, The Maestro’s, Pelicans, Suwaa, and Wagner World. Balls is the first ever mixed gender team, featuring 3 girls and 3 guys. Cam Weston, the reigning Rookie of the Year, highlights their roster. For the Bombers, a lot is unknown. All of the players are rookies except for the captain, Josh Clopp. The Maestro’s are full of talent and experience, but the group together is new. Marra brothers are together and they brought in a former MVP candidate, Dylan Coyle, and former MVP, Austin Berger, who’s back from a year hiatus. The Pelicans, like the Barton Bombers, are unknown. They are a group of baseball players at the local Canon McMillan High School, and are all rookies to the league. Suwaa is captained by RJ Dami, who was on Da Fatz last season, and they bring speed and athleticism to the table highlighted by Doug Kotar and Bryan Milligan. Wagner World is the last of the new teams and is split between experienced and newbies. Cree Gardner captains fellow veteran Alex Gregory and 2 rookies, as they look to be an under the radar team that shows they can hang with the best. Remember the Splunkers debacle last year? So do we, and both of the Splunkers teams last year make their own for 2018. The original Splunkers, captained by talented pitcher Aidan Miller, keep the Splunkers name for 2018. The mid season take over team, captained by Justin Davey, are in with the same roster plus Christian Johnson as the Canonsburg LumberKings. Hope they know we swing plastic. Speaking of Canonsburg, the CBG Doughboys are back for year 3 of their existence. Is the 3rd time the charm? Ed Cottrill brings back Graziani and Rohaley, along with a big off season pick up of Nick Serafino. To the other Cottrill in the WILL, Matt brings back his Ramen Noodles for year 2. Same roster as 2017 for the sophomores, they cracked round 1 last year in the playoffs now they look to take the big jump into a true contender spot. The now veteran Step Dads, are the last of the teams, and are looking to finally make it into the playoffs. They added a bat and arm, in Nate Morris, and return power hitting Sylvester and Kiger. Stay tuned for a season preview served by Lovie’s Frosty Twist coming out within a week or so to highlight each and every team in depth. All the team pages are updated on the site, go check them out here. The WILL season kicks off with opening day on June 3.
