Winter WILL 5v5 Football Recap

The Winter WILL went on in full effect on Saturday, January 6th as teams brought non perishable food items to donate to the Greater Washington County Food Bank . This year the tournament was organized as a dual sport affair, which featured a 5v5 Football series and a Wiff game. The 5v5 Football came first on the days schedule, two teams went head to head for a best of 3 series to crown a Winter WILL 5v5 Football champion. The teams were the Cavalry (Justin Davey, Frank Fortunato, Christian Johnson, Jordan Pastoria, and Brandon Lawless) and the Snowboarders (Jordan Castelli, Matt Mish, Jacob Davey, Steven Keelon, Ed Cottrill, and Nate Morris). The best of three series featured games that settled a winner by the first team to score 7 touchdowns. The style of football was two hand touch. In game one the Cavalry won a back and forth battle by a score of 7 to 5. In game 2 the low morale Snowboarders fell yet again to the Cavalry by a score of 7 to 4. The sweep was secured on a 2 yard pitch from Cavalry QB, Justin Davey, to Jordan Pastoria to get the Cavalry to seven in game two. Turnovers were an issue for the Snowboarders, for the Cavalry had 6 interceptions on the day. Nonetheless, a well deserved series win to the Cavalry, for the amount of times the Snowboarders stopped their drive short of the endzone could be arguably counted on one hand.
